Massage is generally a safe treatment for most people. However there are health factors known as contra-indications which may affect whether or not you can have a massage or which treatment we can offer you.
You cannot receive massage with any of the following conditions. These are total contra-indications:
- contagious or infectious diseases
- if you are under the influence of non-prescription drugs or alcohol
- recent operations
- skin diseases
Local contra-indications mean that the therapist cannot massage over areas affected by the following conditions:
- undiagnosed lumps and bumps
- varicose veins
- cuts and abrasions
- undiagnosed pain
Please inform us of any local contra-indications or medical conditions, including pregnancy, at the time of your booking.
Ways of adapting your treatment to avoid local contra-indications can be discussed with your therapist at the time of your treatment.
